Training Skills

  • Delivery of a pre-prepared training session on a work-related topic chosen by the participant.

Note: The duration of each participant's training session depends on the overall course length and the number of attendees. Eight participants is the ideal group size.

  • Comprehensive one-to-one and group feedback

Preparing a Training Session

  • Key questions the trainer should consider in advance:
    • Why am I the right person for this role?
    • What are the logistics (what, where, when, how, and duration)?
    • How do the answers to these questions influence the training structure?
  • Structuring the content:
    • Research – gaining deep subject knowledge
    • Organizing the content logically
    • Developing and employing complementary visual aids

Preparing the Trainer

  • The three fundamental communication tools for a trainer:
    • Verbal – choosing precise words and avoiding slang or jargon
    • Vocal – using clear vocal tone while avoiding distracting speech patterns
    • Visual – managing appearance: attire, body language, and overall presence
  • Rehearsing the session and obtaining honest feedback from a reliable source
  • Managing nerves effectively

Preparing the Environment

  • Room layouts and their subtle impact on attendees
  • Utilizing the space to enhance the learning experience
  • Cleaning up and restoring the room after the session

Evaluation

  • The importance of evaluation
  • Processes for collecting and utilizing participant feedback

Training Skills – Practical Application

  • Delivery of a second training session (following adequate preparation time).

Note: This may be the same presentation as in Module 1, revised based on detailed feedback.
